BOUGHT A PLANT.
NOW WHAT?

The after-care guide tells you exactly what to do in the first two weeks - and more importantly, what NOT to do.

Your plant survived my scrutiny. Now what do you do with it?

Q: What is 'Not Dirt' anyway?

A:
It’s a chunky, soilless substrate—bark, horticultural charcoal, and other amendments designed to let roots breathe and drain fast. It holds just enough moisture to keep the plant happy without staying swampy. Standard potting soil is too dense for most of what I sell; if you put these in a bag of "Miracle" anything, they will likely rot.

Q: How often should I water?

A:
When the top 1–2 inches are dry. Use the finger test every single time—do not go by a schedule. Most of my plants would rather be slightly underwatered than sitting in stagnant moisture. If the pot feels light, it's probably thirsty.

Q: My plant has sticky spots. Is it a pest?

A:
Probably not. Many aroids produce extrafloral nectaries (EFNs)—natural sticky secretions the plant makes itself. It’s normal. If you’re seeing actual bugs, that’s a different conversation, but check my EFN post before you reach for the neem oil and start a war you don't need to fight.

Q: When should I fertilize?

A:
Not for at least a month. These plants are already "fed" and established. They need to focus on adjusting to your home’s air and light before you go hitting them with growth hormones. Let them settle in first.
