$35.00
Bushy. It’s not a word I typically associate with Alocasias, but this one is the exception to the rule. It’s not ONLY because the leaves sort of have a “wrinkle” texture on top of the pixelated whites and greens, but ALSO because the leaves themselves grow tighter together than any other Alocasia I have.
I don’t consider that to be a terrible thing. Basically, on top of being very pretty, very variegated, and very “bushy”, these plants stay relatively compact (in Alocasia world, anyway). They just get to their height and they hang out, making pups and being generally happy about their spot in your living room or whatever.
Like ANY variegated plant, they need light. Good light. Closer to bright light than bright indirect light. Either, I get GREAT morning sun and it sits by a window light or I went ahead and bought a SANSI (or other good brand of your choice) grow light.
Also, be aware that the thicker, “wrinklier” leaves are prone to edema. These often have brown spots on the outer edges, and sometimes even mid-leaf, from the natural guttation that occurs after watering. The “wrinkles” hold that water on the plant, and then it causes the equivalent of a minor infection on the leaf, causing it to turn brown.
Overall, a great little plant, perfect for most people’s spaces and for sure an eye-catcher you’ll enjoy.
This plant is currently living in a 6" clear liner to accommodate its luscious root system. It’s potted in my signature 'Not Dirt' substrate—I won't sell the mix to you because it’s a hot mess to make, but the plants clearly love the drama of it.
I’ve vetted these beauties to ensure they’re healthy and happy, but I can’t guarantee what they’ll do once they leave my greenhouse. If I could control nature, I’d be a wizard, and I’d probably have a much cooler hat. 🧙♂️
