Stuck on You Duo | Alocasia and Snake

Tall and lanky. You know the kind. You look at them initially and think—do I REALLY want to do that? And then you bring them home anyway. Somehow, you end up divorced and with a kid because HOLY MOLY, there was something about this "relationship" you really liked, and it wasn't the conversation.

Ahem. Okay, maybe that’s just me and you guys made better choices with your lives.

The Alocasia is the dramatic one; she’ll droop when she’s thirsty just to make sure you’re still paying attention. Give her some bright indirect light and water her when she starts acting out. Then you have the Snake plant—the silent type. This thing will survive your darkest hallway and your longest vacation. It literally doesn't care if you forget its name.

Neither of these are fragile greenhouse babies. They’ve been living in my house for a while now, so they’re already over the shock of existing in a room with a thermostat and a front door. Give this clingy pair some light, water when the Alocasia gets moody, and you’ve got a corner with height that doesn't mind if you bring your other "friends" over to Netflix and Chill.

Each plant is currently living in a 6” liner to give its luscious root system enough room - but not too much room - to grow. It’s potted in my signature 'Not Dirt' substrate—I won't sell the mix to you because it’s a hot mess to make, but the plants clearly love the drama of it.

I’ve vetted these beauties to ensure they’re healthy and happy, but I can’t guarantee what they’ll do once they leave my greenhouse. If I could control nature, I’d be a wizard, and I’d probably have a much cooler hat. 🧙‍♂️
