Philodendron Bette Waterbury | Outer Space Big

There’s a number for this plant, which should tell you how fancy it is. (It’s not 007, but 69686 is still cool, right?)

Another thing you should know: it’s bigger than you think it is. And I don’t mean height really, although they are about a foot up from the top of the pot.

What I mean is…these take up space. Like, that toxic person who you love to hate and that takes up all your energy space. OUTER SPACE. They’re big. The leaves are almost the length of my forearm, and I’m not a small human (5’10” for context).

Before you buy one, make sure you have the space for it. All the way around. It needs an island where you can properly admire it. Because they are pretty.

Lush. Green. Verdant. Instant house jungle. I haven’t had these as long as some of the plants in the shop, but I have developed quite the liking for them already. 

And if the Joepii is the ACTUALLY fancy plant with this leaf shape (sort of), this is the affordable version of “I collect plants and my non-plant friends just think it looks cool” of tropicals. I envision the 69686 sipping a pina colada by the ocean with a cabana boy/girl bringing it drinks.

In short, it reminds me of somewhere I want to be. Which is really the point of all this, isn’t it?

This plant is currently living in a 6" clear liner to accommodate its luscious root system. It’s potted in my signature 'Not Dirt' substrate—I won't sell the mix to you because it’s a hot mess to make, but the plants clearly love the drama of it.

I’ve vetted these beauties to ensure they’re healthy and happy, but I can’t guarantee what they’ll do once they leave my greenhouse. If I could control nature, I’d be a wizard, and I’d probably have a much cooler hat. 🧙‍♂️
