Philodendron Joepii | Fragile Space Suck

These things are weird. The name is spelled weird, the shape is weird. They’re fragile and they’re really a space suck.

All that said, they’re kind of beautiful in an aliens-can-be-cute-too sort of way. I kind of think about this plant as actually having a part of a rainforest or something in my house. Mad jungle vibes - like the kind where you’re looking around for a tiger or something.

Also, the EFNs on this bad boy are something serious. I wouldn’t say I have to wipe it down once a day, but for sure it needs to be done more often than most of the other philos I have. And that’s saying something.

It’s not the fastest grower either. That said, when a leaf DOES unfurl, it’s absolutely the coolest thing you’ve ever seen: neon green and supple, rolling out faster at the top and bottom than it does in the middle, one side and then the other. Just. Super weird. Super cool.

This plant is currently living in a 6" clear liner to accommodate its luscious root system. It’s potted in my signature 'Not Dirt' substrate—I won't sell the mix to you because it’s a hot mess to make, but the plants clearly love the drama of it.

I’ve vetted these beauties to ensure they’re healthy and happy, but I can’t guarantee what they’ll do once they leave my greenhouse. If I could control nature, I’d be a wizard, and I’d probably have a much cooler hat. 🧙‍♂️
